Cocoa Daisy: Weathervane

It's soooo cold! Crazy weather, huh? I created an 8x8 today using this month's Cocoa Daisy sketch, the Weathervane kit and Wind Chime Add-On. We went to an Islamic wedding this summer and we were dressed to the nines. Rianna looked especially beautiful:

Mini Tiny Circles 6x6 Template inked with Rusty Keys and used a Fiskars Postage Stamp Border Punch along the side. Pretty straightforward take on the sketch and I love how it turned out!

Scrapbook Circle Guest Designer

Happy October! This month, I am guesting at Scrapbook Circle and this month's kits are SUPER FUN! I've been a subscriber for close to three years and I really, really love the kits. They don't skimp, the selections are so well put together, I literally get excited when I find my kit on my doorstep. Today on their blog is my introduction post, which includes a fun Q&A and the first project I made for them. More projects will be revealed throughout the month as we go through and play with our kits, including a sketch and other fun product and technique based challenges. I am soooooo looking forward to it all!

I loved playing with this kit. Lisa's got a great eye for mixing all the latest and greatest into her kits. There's lots of brand new Chickaniddy Crafts, Elle's Studio and Fancy Pants Designs. I made this 8x8 layout using only the Main Kit, "On This Day", which is still available for purchase. This is about Bearemy, Jabran's beloved teddy bear who had lost his arm and needed some stitching - so Grandma's mending it:

Sand Play - My Creative Scrapbook

Another 8x8 layout! Seriously, I don't think I'm ever going back to the 12x12. How are you guys? Tonight I played with the AMAZING June Sketch over at My Creative Scrapbook. For this project I used their June Limited Edition Kit.

Love this photo of Rianna. She was two at the time, playing in the sand at the lake. What cracks me up is her curled toes with the one big toe pointing out. Adorbs.

I fell in love with all the Kaisercraft Kaleidoscope papers in this kit, but I was only able to get two sheets and half of the Sugar Blooms flower package in a kit swap. I was happy. It was enough for me to create a layout and so I can play along with their sketches. Don't you just love those triangles?

I started off by layering the floral side of the Impasto paper over teal cardstock. I really loved the triangle and dashed line elements in this sketch. I cut triangles out of the chevron pattern in the Original paper, then masked my Static 6x6 Stencil with washi tape and dabbed it with Olive Vine Chalk Fluid to recreate the dashed lines element. I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Sketchy Banners journaling strip from white cardstock and colorwashed it with Worn Jeans Chalk Fluid. The title letters are from their May kit.

Here I cut the backside of both papers and some gray cardstock to mat my photo. To make the banner, I used a Taylored Expressions Pennant Border Die embossed with the Cuttlebug Polka Dot Embossing Folder, highlighted the raised dots with Viva Decor Ice White Pearl Pen, then dabbed Olive Vine and Teal Damask Chalk Fluid over it. The branches are Memory Box Grove Branch and Honeyblossom Sprig dies.

It's different from my regular style, but I really like how it turned out. It was fun experimenting with a little shabby chic. ;)

Moi - Scraptastic Kits

Hi again! I created another 8x8 page and let me tell you, I am definitely sticking to this new size. It's so fun in this size!



Everything I used was from the Scraptastic Kits April add-on and bits from the Main Kit. I also used the negative strip die cut from Avery Elle Chevron Die.

DESIGN INSPIRATION:
An awesome sketch by Susan Stringfellow. She designed for me at Color Combos Galore and is now with Scraptastic Kit Club designing pages and sketches. I loved this one, with all it's fun layers. There's a new issue at Paper Issues. It's Mum's the Word so I chose to play on the word MOM. It's a photo of me that my daughter took a few years ago while we were having lunch at the mall. Mind you, I do not normally walk around or eat lunch at the mall with glasses on, lol. She asked me to put them on, then she snapped the picture. I wanted to document this photo of me, the young Mom she captured. It's also a great photo for the Glasses Challenge at A Cherry On Top.

Capture - Citrus Twist Kits

Happy Tuesday! This was supposed to be a "Happy Monday!" post, but life was pulling me in all directions yesterday. Today I am excited to share my very first 8x8 layout! What? YES! I have been admiring Kasia Tomaszewska and her 8x8 pages, so I decided to try it out and you know, I TOTALLY LIKE! However, I was a little freaked out after I cut my base because I realized how small 8x8 really is. But the smaller canvas gives a quicker completion time and that, my friends, is good for me! Here is the page I made with Citrus Twist Kits and their Sunday Sketch. I took this photo of Zayn and Rianna really quick on my iPhone (all the while trying not to get noticed). What I got was a blurry, overexposed photo. But nevertheless, I had to record this moment:







This kit was full of deliciousness, once again! I used Wanderlust paper and vellum stickers, Lemonlush ephemera pieces and some Citrus Twist wood veneer. The larger heart was cut from Dear Lizzy paper. I also used Papertrey Ink dies, Huey Mists and a stencil that was inked with Prima chalks:

I added six new stencils to my templates stash last month and would you believe this was my first time using one? OMG, what I have been missing, FUN STUFF! Did you know that Moxie Fab World is having a stencils challenge and that besides cards, they also accept layouts? So for all you stencil experts, novices like me, and all those in between, go play!
