Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit

"Many Thanks"
Simon Says Stamp! October "Here's Looking At You" Kit | Clearly Besotted Mini Basic Banners

Hello October!! Saturday was World Card Making Day and as much as I wanted to participate in all the activities, I couldn't because my much neglected scrap room was a wreck. So I dove in and decluttered and organized my chaotic mess. This morning, I pulled out my first kit to arrive this month - my beloved Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, looked up their latest challenge, and was very excited to start creating.

This week, it's "Anything Goes" with the option of using Clearly Besotted products:
Many Thanks Card by Janet Perafan-Babar: Simon Says Stamp October Kit, Clearly Besotted Mini Basic Banners Stamp and Die Set

INSPIRATION:

Card sketch is from Retro Sketches, I knew how I wanted to interpret the sketch, but once I started shuffling around the GORGEOUS My Mind's Eye “My Story” papers from the kit and seeing how cute the kit stamp elements were with the heart and glasses and trendy sentiments, I had so many ideas in my head I didn't know what I wanted to use!! Finally, taking inspiration from Paper Issue's Pinspire Me Monday Mood Board, I was set. It was clear. I had my card all planned out.

Retro Sketches #184

TALL BIRDIE ELEMENT:
I top-shadowed the gold heart with black cardstock to create the illusion of height
NARROW CENTER STRIP:
Used a flag strip die
SENTIMENT STRIP:
Softened the edges with a curved element

Paper Issues: (P)inspire Me Monday

COLOR COMBO:
yellow, black and cream clock; red poppy field
ELEMENT:
Heart shaped latte

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and Happy Scrappin'!!!!

Hey Smile - CCG#250 & Simon Says Stamp

YAY! The Color Combos Galore Challenges started up again and the new color palette is gorgeous! I used the Simon Says Stamp! You Are My Favorite June Card Kit, along with two of their fabulous dies - the Chevron Pattern Full Card Die and the Kelly Purkey Smile Die:

card by Janet Perafan-Babar | @simonsaysstamp June 2014 Card Kit; #colorcombosgalore #ccg250 #simonsaysstamp; Simon Says Stamp Chevron Pattern Die; Kelly Purkey Smile Die;

DESIGN INSPIRATION:

I was so excited to create this Color Combo using these colors. Totally loving the navy, aqua and pink right now and the gold just knocks it out of the ballpark!

Color Combos Galore Challenge #250

My Focus Challenge was from Inspiration Photo #2 - Focus On Patterns: Chevron. I chose to use the chevron die and filled some of the negative spaces with the aqua paper. I drew other inspiration from the bowl in Photo #1 to use the Smile Die and a circle punch, a gold glittered enamel dot from the glitter in Photo #2, enamel dots from the headboard studs in Photo #3, and finally the frame in Photo #4 prompted using script stamps and to layer white on pink.

Seriously, I REALLY LOVE how much fun it is to play with these Color Combos and Inspiration Boards. The combos always work so well together and it's such a great challenge to find and use all the inspiration I can.

Thanx so much for stopping by!!
Hugs and Happy Scrappin'!!!!

xoxo

Happy Birthday - Simon Says Stamp Kit

Hello there! How has this glorious weather been treating you? I am loving it! Been busy these past weeks plus some cleaning in my studio. Nothing like a clean desk to get your mojo flowing again! Jabran turned 11 this weekend, so I made this card for my Mom to give him:

card by Janet Perafan-Babar | Simon Says Stamp May 2014 Card Kit; Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday Die
For his card, I chose to use the Simon Says Stamp! May Card Kit. I just LOVED the playful boy theme and fabulous rich colors from the Fancy Pants Designs "Be Different" collection. Plus the stamp set had that awesome game controller, which I filled in with color pencils. You know, I just realized -- I forgot to add a cord. Grrrr!

DESIGN INSPIRATION:

I combined two challenges, a sketch and a product. At Unscripted Sketches, two slight variations to the sketch: I offset the two diagonal edges and the substituted the overlapping strip with a stamped image. The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge was "Die Crazy", showcasing their exclusive die cut products, so I chose the Happy Birthday Die.

Thanx so much for stopping by!!

Hugs and Happy Scrappin'!!!!

xoxo

You Are - Simon Says Stamp!

Hello friends! I'm sharing a card I made combining the April Card Challenge at A Cherry on Top with the current Fusion Chevron and Simon Says Stamp! Clean and Simple challenges. They are showcasing Hero Arts products this week, so I mixed it in with their April Card Kit:

I just LOVE the chevron inspiration! I am trying to get the kids ready for school so I'm uploading this quick because it's so close to deadline. I will be back a little later to fill in the rest of the post.

CCG Flashback (Color Combo #241)

"What we are going to do right now is go back, way back. Back into time!". Haha, no, I'm not talking Disco Fever or a Saturday Night Disco Dance Party with Joe Causi. Color Combos Galore is going back in time, revisiting some older color challenges. We are playing Flashback with our favorite combos from this year. This week, we are choosing any of the 2013 Color Combos. You can find them on the site or on Pinterest. My card, using the current My Favorite Things sketch* and Simon Says Stamp! July "Summer Party" Card Kit*:

Now I do love each and every color combo I have made throughout the years, this year especially. The colors were so trendy and the inspiration photos were fabulous. So needless to say, it was not easy choosing a favorite. However, I favored this Inspiration Board with Photo #3 - the Mehndi laced hand of the Indo-Pakistani bride. It brought me back to my own Pakistani ceremony the night before our "real" wedding, my red dress and how pretty those women decorated and painted my hands.

The designers were instructed to choose an element from any of the photos as inspiration, but not allowed to use any of the four original "Focus On" challenge prompts from the original Reveal post. I chose Inspiration Photo #2.

The original challenge for this was "Focus On: Repetition and/or Sequence", but for this week's Flashback Challenge, I couldn't do that. So I focused on the layered tone-on-tone plates. My interpretation from that was to create the same tone-on-tone effect, layering elements cut from the same background paper. I really love the look it gives and I have been wanting to do this technique for like,...ever. I think it looks so cool.

This is the sketch I used. This Moxie Fab birthday* card had to include clouds* for the Charisma Cardz* challenge, so I used Flat-Bottom Clouds for my effect. The paper is ColorMates. I collected these cardstock sheets many years ago - great range of colors, but I don't even know who sells them anymore.

When I first saw the sketch, I really wished I had their washi stamp and die set. It would of been perfect.

Instead, I substituted that element with one of the file tabs from LLD Accent It - Labels and Tabs. For the center block, I layered Postage Stamp STAX over the Insert It - InstaFrame. And don't you just love these balloons? These adorable balloons are the Party Balloons stamps and dies from their July release. The tie ribbon is too cute. LOVE!! So happy I got them.

I was really happy with the colors in this month's card kit. Bright, bold, fun colors. The background, chevron block and center balloon are 6x6 papers from the Lily Bee Designs Sweet Shop collection, and so is the "party time" word label. I had no idea what to do with the straws at first, until I was making the balloons. But even when I pop dot, and double pop dot the balloons, the straws were still bulky. Scratched my head a bit, then I cut them in half and angled the tips. KAAA-UTE!!!! Oh, that chevron arrow stamp on the bottom is Jumbo Mod Borders, also from their July release. It was stamped with Kraft ink.

I had a total blast playing with some of my MFT dies, and I totally LOVED this kit. Simon Says Stamps! kits are so fun to get. My August kit already came in past a week, so must dive into that one real quick and not get backed up.

Hope you are enjoying your creative time too! Have a FABULOUS week, and do check out the Color Combo Challenges, I would love for you to try a combo!

Happy Scrappin'!!!!
