One Layer Card? Interesting...

Okay! I will take the challenge, I have yet to make a one layer card! So here it is, my first. Ever. One Layer Card:

So how did I do for my first CAS? The Color Combo is rose, blush, butter and gray for the Flashback Challenge at Color Combos Galore, we are playing with 2012 this week. This Color Combo that was scheduled to post when we were at Blogger, but never did once we went back to Ning. I was going to contribute this card, but my colors are way off. If I get a chance, I will try again tomorrow.

Seize the Birthday has a new sister site called Seize the Sketch. I thought it was a good sketch for CAS, one layer card, which I exactly the kind of sketch I needed for this week's Lawnscaping Challenge. Now does one layer mean nothing, like NO embellishments or overlapped die cuts? Is it just stamping on the base? I hope you readers can clarify this for me.

Onto the deets, Lawnscaping Challenge = Lawn Fawn Stamps....

So here's what I did. First, I created a mask for the speech bubble from the A Birdie Told Me set. I next chose the chevron strip from the Interlocking Backdrops set. I was feeling a little adventurous with it, really, since the card was going to be "only one layer". Some people do plain very nicely. Clean. Me? It would probably be boring, LOL! So here I decided to ink both sides of the chevron with different inks, then stamp over the mask. I ripped open some new waiting-to-be-used Prima Chalk, Old Rose and Pastel Pink. Jenni B's Malted Milk dabber, and stamped again, reversing the colors. This little technique was a little frustrating, least to say. I attempted this feat twice, and had to throw out the cards each time. On the third try I FINALLY, I got a decent impression!

Once I was satisfied done, I removed the mask and stamped the bubble with Attic Dust. Again, the Prima Chalk. I LOVE how it inked up stamps. Total coverage. The sentiment is from the Happy Everything sentiments set, stamped with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink (my faaaa-vorite black). The tiny bird and heart is from the A Birdie Told Me set. I am also playing along at Charisma Cardz again this week, with their Faux Stitching Challenge, as well as the All Sorts Challenge with the same. Faux stitching, right up my alley! I used the Dritz tool and ran it alongside the top edge of the card to create the threadless stitch. Not sure if that's the right term? Yeah, you know I still haven't used my machine, and it's like what, five years since I got it? Never used.

Anywayz, thanks for stopping by again, if you want to try a color combo with your next project, here's the LINK. You should play. It's fun. Have a great rest of the week!

Happy Scrappin'!!!!
xoxo
